Sailboats is an impressionist seascape painted by the Texas artist Eloise Polk McGill, a direct descendent of President James Knox Polk. Born in Independence, Texas, she was raised there and on a ranch in Bandera County. She then moved to San Antonio where she graduated valedictorian from Main Avenue High School. She studied with William Merritt Chase in New York and taught wildflower painting classes in her Alamo Heights studio in San Antonio.
