Bluebonnets, Pleasanton, Texas shows a field of the Texas state flower. Artist Herbert Bernard spent the last 15 years of his life perfecting his depiction of the bluebonnet. Barnard, a native of Chicago, moved to Corpus Christi in 1911 and to San Antonio a year later where he lived until 1947. A well-known artist and designer in San Antonio, he decorated the city's Aztec and Palace Theaters and painted the scenic designs for the Order of the Alamo Fiesta coronations.
