2025 TEXAS CAPITOL ORNAMENT
30th Anniversary Edition
The Capitol Visitors Center Gift Shop opened March 31, 1994, and initially offered simple holiday keepsakes while development of the first exclusive Texas Capitol Ornament was underway for the 1996 holiday season. That original effort was led by Nelda Laney, wife of then-Texas House of Representatives Speaker James E. “Pete” Laney, and the State Preservation Board. The inaugural ornament focused on the iconic south façade of the Lone Star Statehouse and featured an arched pillar over the dome proclaiming it to be the “First Edition.”
It takes the State Preservation Board retail team eight to ten months to envision each ornament from concept to delivery, sometimes with more than a dozen prototypes, to ensure color, detail and design. Over the years, the ornament line has expanded to include a lighted series as well as the Texas Wildflower series, and other unique specialty ornaments, each paying homage to classic Texas imagery.
With a nod to the 1996 first edition ornament, the 2025 Texas Capitol Ornament presents the entire southern face of the Capitol adorned with holiday wreaths and Yaupon Holly swags wound around the monumental columns. The six flags that have flown over Texas are depicted on the building’s south pediment, and both the Texas and United States flags fly above the entrance. Finally, the 1889 Great Walk, made up of black and white concrete pavers set in a checkerboard pattern, is flanked by a grand allée of trees, inviting visitors inside the historic building.
Finished in 24K gold and measures approximately 3 1/2” x 3 1/4" x 1/2". Polish with a soft, dry cloth. Made in the USA.

Approximately 65,000 units are sold over the course of each year. During the last thirty years the line has raised more than $27.4 million dollars to support the ongoing preservation and interpretation of the Texas Capitol for over one million visitors annually.

The standard shipping rate is a flat rate based on the combined weight of the items in your cart in conjunction with carrier weight based shipping tables. Orders that qualify for flat rate shipping will ship either through USPS or FedEx at our discretion. Orders with the selected methods of FedEx Ground, FedEx 2 Day or FedEx Next Day will only ship via FedEx.

Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase with an original packing slip. Refunds are issued in the form of original payment for the amount of the returned merchandise (not including shipping or service fees).
Purchased items that are later offered at a discount may not be returned and re-purchased at the lower price.
For health and safety reasons, pierced earrings are not returnable or exchangeable.
Damaged or defective CDs, DVDs, and other multimedia products can be exchanged for the identical item but cannot be returned for a refund. New unopened multimedia products in their original plastic wrap may be returned within 30 days of purchase for a refund with an original packing slip.
